In Panama, music is very prevailing. Folkloric music is related to poetry and popular dances being, in many cases the source of inspiration of classical music. In our folkloric music we distinguish the vocal music, such as "saloma", "tuna" and "mejorana", and the instrumental music such as "mejorana", "punto", "cumbia" and others.

Panama has institutions engaged in propagating the Panamanian music and everything related with the folklore; among these we can mention the National Institute of Culture, which every year has the responsibility of preparing shows including, for example: poetry recitals, plastic art expositions, dance shows, musical groups, National Symphonic Orchestra concerts and others. Among the greatest values of the music in Panama, we can mention: Roque Cordero, Jaime Ingram, Eduardo Charpentier, Jr., Damian Carles and Priscila Filos, Gonzalo Brenes, Alberto Galimany and Ricardo Fabrega. And in relation to singers of the Panamanian folkloric music, we can mention: Osvaldo Ayala, Samy and Sandra Sandoval, Nina Campines, Dorindo Cárdenas, Ulpiano Vergara, Victorio Vergara, Lucho Azcarraga, Yin Carrizo, Colaquito Cortez, Manuel de Jesús Abrego, Toby Muñóz, Cristian Nieto, Inocente Sanjur, Lucho De Sedas, Edwin Zeballos, among others.
