Colon is the second most important city of Panama, one hour from the city by road. Colon is known for its Free zone (the second largest in the world). Adjacent is Manzanillo International Terminal-Panamá (MIT), considered the biggest container transshipment port of Latin America. This important city also has two ports for cruise ships, Colon 2000 and Pier 6 in the Port of San Cristobal. You can reach Colon by bus from the Albrook Terminal or by the new Panama Railroad (Panama Canal Railway Company). Near the city of Colon are the ruins of Portobelo (more detailed information in the section SITES OF INTEREST/Monuments), ruins of 16th Century, as well as beautiful beaches in all this coast of the Caribbean. Isla Grande (Colon)

Isla Grande is located north of Panama in the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the most beautiful islands in Panama. There you can enjoy snorkel and scuba, fishing and surfing. You can find different local people offering the equipment necessary for this type of activity. You reach the entrance of Sabanitas (before reaching Colón) and after passing the ruins of Portobelo you make a transfer to La Guaira and from there you take a boat (approximately 5 minutes) that will get you to the island, $1.00 per person.
